We continuously aim at minimizing our environmental footprint by relentlessly
searching for other and better ways to
manufacture our products
Biofuel Cogeneration
Bi-silque's investment in industrial cogeneration results in the reduction of
our carbon footprint by converting biofuel waste into energy.
Energy generation
We incinerate around 250 tons (35%) of our wood production waste material.
Bio waste collection
We use a centralised cyclonic dust extraction system to collect the combustible wood waste throughout the production process.
Energy Use
The incinerator converts the biofuel into steam and heat which is used for kiln drying our timber, ISPM15 heat treating of pallets and heating plate presses on the factory floor.
750 MWh
The remainder (65%) is collected by various entities as a raw
material for their needs.
Renewable Energy
In 2013, Bi-silque started an ambitious 10-year project with the goal of using 20%
self-generated renewable energy. Currently we are at:
900 MWh per annum
30%
Of our annual energy
With a current solar panel installation, producing an estimate of 900MWh per annum, we are able to produce more than 30% of our electrical energy requirements.
Our Pledge For An Even Better Tomorrow
Bi-silque has increased their effort on the development of environmentally friendly
products to meet the following objective:
Raw Material Sourcing
Raw Material transportation causes pollution, we therefore try to source our raw materials
as close by to the factory as possible.
